My coaching philosophy

Athlete centered

My coaching centers on you as a whole person.  I take the time to get to know you, your experiences, and your goals.  I recognize everyone has a life outside of their training.  Training should be sustainable and enjoyable, and that’s only possible if it integrates well into the rest of your life.

Individualized

No two athletes are the same, yet there are lots of “off the shelf” training plans available in books and on the internet.  A generic plan can’t take into account your experience, current fitness, and goals. What if you improve faster than the plan, or if you get ill or injured?  I create a unique plan to meet your needs and fit your lifestyle. When “life happens” and your plan needs updating, I’m there beside you to make any necessary changes.

Science based

I base all of my plans on the latest exercise science combined with application of proven coaching methods.  Every one of my workouts is designed to stimulate a certain response to get you closer to your goals. I try to explain why each workout is designed a certain way so that you understand the purpose.  That’s the difference between “training” towards a specific goal and just “exercising”.
